Frequently Asked Questions:

General:

When is your next auction?

If you look to the top of this page you will see the next Car, Van and Plant auction listed. Simply click on the auction you are interested in to view details and find links to view images and bid on lots

How do bid?

Bidding is online only. Items may be viewed on site prior to bidding (or at other locations as stated in the description). This is strongly recommended and encouraged as bidding on items purely based on pictures may result in disappointment. Once you are satisfied that the item meets your requirements you may place a bid via the i-bidder.com or bidspotter.co uk sites.  Collection may be arranged once your account has been settled with us.  Further details on the online bidding process can be found here

What is the difference between i-bidder.com and bidspotter.co.uk?

Both sites are run using the same interface so either site may be used with no noticeable difference. You will need to create an account with the site you use on your first bid. You don't need to create an account to view lots, just to bid.

When are you open for viewing and collections?

Our auction centre is open weekdays 9.00am to 5.00pm.  We are not open at the weekends or bank holidays.  Please see our website to see what days we are open over the Christmas holidays.

Car & Van Auctions

1. I've just sold my vehicle. What happens now?

Once your vehicle is sold it is very important that you notify DVLA of the sale. The seller, not Husseys or the buyer, is responsible for notifying DVLA when the vehicle is sold. The relevant section of the registration document must be returned stating where and when you sold the vehicle. (As you won't know the buyer you can say you sold it through auction as a 'trade sale'). This is very important as you may receive a fine if DVLA are not informed of the sale. You should receive confirmation of receipt from DVLA in due course.

2. How do I get paid?

Our standard method of payment is by bank transfer using the details you provided when entering the vehicle.  Your Statement of Sale will be emailed using the email address also given at time of entry.  You will receive the funds within 5 working days from receipt of your Statement of Sale.

Plant Auctions

1. What is the difference between 'Live & Online' and 'Online' Auctions?

Live & Online Auctions - We currently are not holding any Live & Online auctions.
Online auctions, also known as timed auctions, are held every month, generally on the fourth Wednesday.  Lots are sold online only via the i-bidder and bidspotter sites.  Bidding usually opens 10 to 20 days or so before the closing date and viewing is the two days before lots start closing.  It is a staggered finish which means that lot 1 will finish at 11.00am and lot 2 five seconds later, lot 3 another five seconds later and so on.  It will usually take a couple of hours or so to complete the auction.  Succesful bidders will be required to settle their accounts swiftly and can attend the auction site to collect their items. Occasionally some items are sold offsite which means they are located elsewhere.  Please check the item's description for location information.

2. What are the viewing and collection arrangments?

Our auction centre is open weekdays 9.00am to 5.00pm.  We are not open at the weekends or bank holidays.  Please see our website to see what days we are open over the Christmas holidays.  Items which are described as offsite are not at our auction centre. You will have to make an appointment to view these items at their location.

3. What are the auction rules?

Please read and understand the sale notes and conditions for each sale. They set out clearly the rules under which the auction is run.

4. What are the auction fees?

For buyers there is a Buyers Premium and also an Online Fee to pay.  The charges are detailed in the description of each lot so please take a moment to read and understand them. Please also note that most lots are subject to VAT on the hammer unless stated otherwise.  Please also see our fees page here: Husseys Fees

5. Do you deliver items?

We don't deliver but it you wish to arrange a courier collection that would be ok.  Please ensure that you have notified us who will be collecting your items and when. We may also require a collection note/barcode which your courier will provide. If you can forward it to us we'll stick it on your item. The courier may well refuse to collect your item if it is not properly labeled.  Please also ensure your courier has your paddle number upon collection. This ensures that we give them the right item(s).
